یکی از نواحی مهم مغزی درگیر در فرآیند نظریه ذهن، ناحیه اتصال آهیانه‌ای-گیجگاهی راست (rTPJ) مغز است که مطالعات متعددی نقش این ناحیه از مغز را در فرآیند ذهنی‌سازی و کاهش فعالیت آن را اختلال طیف اتیسم نشان داده‌اند. پژوهش حاضر با هدف بررسی رابطه‌ علّی بین عملکرد این ناحیه از مغز و توانایی ذهنی‌سازی انجام شد. پژوهش حاضر از از نوع نیمه‌آزمایشی یک‌سرکور با شیوه گردآوری داده‌ها به صورت اندازه‌گیری مکرر است. ۹ کودک و نوجوان مبتلا به اتیسم با کارکرد بالا به روش نمونه‌گیری در دسترس، به‌وسیله ابزار مقیاس نمره‌گذاری اتیسم گیلیام (GARS)، مقیاس پاسخگویی اجتماعی (SRS) و آزمون هوش استنفورد بینه (SB) انتخاب و وارد مطالعه شدند. سپس در سه جلسه‌ تحریک تتابرست پیوسته (cTBS)، تحریک تتابرست متناوب (iTBS) و تحریک شم با ترتیب تصادفی شرکت کردند. بلافاصله بعد از هر جلسه‌ی تحریکی توسط یک ازمون کامپیوتری ملاک‌های مربوط به ذهنی‌سازی ضمنی آزمودنی‌ها اندازه‌گیری شد. نتایج تحلیل واریانس اندازه‌گیری مکرر نشان داد که جلسات تحریکی در مقایسه با جلسات شم باعث بهبود توانایی ذهنی‌سازی ضمنی شدند. به نظر می‌رسد بین فعالیت rTPJ و توانایی ذهنی‌سازی ضمنی در اتیسم رابطه‌ی علّی وجود دارد.
